Intestinal sluggishness? Constipation? – natural herbal relief!

Constipation is when bowel movements occur less frequently than three times a week.

Possible causes:

  • organic diseases
  • not enough liquid intake
  • taking certain medicines
  • lack of exercise
  • not enough fibre intake

Have the cause clarified first, and then support the bowel function. Laxatives should only be taken for a short time. In the long run, they can have an adverse effect on the body's mineral and fluid balance.

The herbal laxative Legapas® Tabletten affects the digestive tract in two ways:

  • increased release of salts and water into the intestine
  • decreased return of these substances from the intestine to the body

This leads to:

  • volume increase of the intestinal contents
  • increase in the filling pressure
  • stimulation of evacuation
  • stimulation of the intestinal muscle movement (peristalsis)

Legapas® thus has a mild laxative effect and provides gentle support for constipation.

Other tips:

  • ensure a healthy diet: eat foods that are high in nutrients and rich in fibre. For example, cereals, legumes, and fruits and vegetables contain a lot of fibre. Reduce the amount of sugar and meat in your diet.
  • lots of exercise – simply taking a walk will help with digestion.
  • sufficient liquid – drink at least 2-3 litres per day, preferably unsweetened tea or water.
  • home remedies such as swelling agents can stimulate digestion. Swelling agents include e.g. bran, flaxseed or Indian psyllium seed. However, these should be taken with plenty of liquid!
